Thrice-knit sweater

Description

Pattern is the green gable hoodie from Ravelry.com www.ravelry.com/patterns/libra… A bottom up seamless done in the round. While this is my first human sized sweater, I would not recomend this pattern as a first sweater, took me over 2 months to complete. I went looking for one that I liked that used a chunky yarn so that my first sweater would go fairly quickly and not be discouraging. There were many times this sweater was discouraging.

Modifications: made the body longer than the pattern suggested, and put a cable up the front, as well as up the back. This was decided on after I had knit the body the first time, so it was completely frogged and re-knit. Sleeves are longer than called for in the pattern. I like to have cuffs, so that when I forget my mittens/gloves I have something to cover my hands some. Did ribbed edging on the hood rather than crochet, which ended up with me having to reinforce the buttonholes. while I like the way the ribbed edging looks on the neck, I am not as fond of it on the hood. Changed the sleeve shaping, the X-large pattern, which I did, called for a much larger cuff, cast on the small cuff, then did some increases early in the sleeve to accommodate the larger arm.

Done with Berocco Comfort Chunky yarn in Aster, if I had it to do over again, I think I would go with their darker purple. Brass buttons.

The title is what my husband is calling this sweater, the body was completely ripped down and re-knit, the neck shaping and shoulder yoke were both ripped down and re-knit more than once as well, twice for the shoulder shaping, 3 times for the neck shaping.

If I had it to do over again, would put one more twist in each sleeve cable.
