Dye job

Description

Top left picture is the original of these (if you want to see the full size pic of the original colors they are here fav.me/d5hkgas ) I HATE the colors of this yarn. I picked it up because it was cheap, and in a ball thought I could live with them......maybe if I had made socks. I could not stand looking at these on my hands, but as they are a rather nice sock yarn, with a good wool content they are actually the warmest of my fingerless gloves.

So I dyed them. Used red and blue Kool-aid to make them dark purple. Used a bit too much, more purple than I really wanted. Took this up as dye amazingly well, I started with water that looked almost black and was so dark you could not see the bottom of the pot I was dying them in. After about 20 minutes the coloring was almost completely gone, there was just a pale blue tint to the water.

All and all much happier with the new color, which is good, it can not be undone.

I didn't know you could get colors like that with Kool-aid. Will the color leech out of the yarn? Or did you set it with some sort of magical process?
